The Minden-Tahoe airport in northern Nevada was home to the Aviation Roundup Air Show this past weekend! Great displays ranged from military aircraft to homebuilt amphibious planes to classic cars. Local vendors set up long rows of tents and exciting aerobatic performance sfilled the skies. I had a display for a special advance signing of Flight Emergency. Thanks to all who stopped by—I really enjoyed meeting you and talking planes. I hope everyone enjoys the read and becomes a safer pilot for it.

Official publication date is September 1—you may pre-order here on this web site or on Amazon.com.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Aviation Roundup and Air Show is going on this August 27-28 at my home airport, the Minden-Tahoe Airport (KMEV), in northern Nevada. But there’s one more bit of breaking news: I’ll be there to sign special advance copies of Flight Emergency for all who attend! Stop by the community vendors on the tie-downs to get your copy—I’d be happy to meet you.

Visit the Aviation Roundup web site and buy your tickets early to save a few dollars. Hope to see you there!

Aviation Roundup at the Minden-Tahoe Airport

Come to the Minden-Tahoe airport this August 27-28 for the 2011 Aviation Roundup and Air Show! Check out some highlights that caught my eye”

  • Aerobatic performances from the great Patty Wagstaff, “Super” Dave Mathieson, and many others
  • A static display featuring a MQ-1 Predator Drone, OV-10 Bronco, and a highly modified P-51 Mustang, plus many other fantastic aircraft
  • Classic cars and Harley-Davidson motorcycles
  • Fly-bys, local vendors, and the chance to enjoy our great airport!
  • The event is also a fundraiser for a good cause—Amanda & Kyle Franklin, the aerobatic performing team, and the ICAS Foundation.

I learned to fly at this friendly community airport, which is a place where everyone from glider pilots, single-engine Cessnas, and big corporate jets share the skies. I hope everyone who attends sees what a valuable resource it is for Douglas County! And I really hope I can meet one of my pilot heroes, Patty Wagstaff. It’s an honor to have her endorsement on my book. Don’t miss her performance—it’s sure to drop your jaw!

Monday morning was punctuated by some exciting news in my inbox: Flight Emergency is now available for pre-order on amazon.com! Check out the listing, which is complete with cover image, endorsements, and a book description. It’s great that amazon.com welcomes both large and small publishers, established and new authors.

The next order of business is to set up the “search inside” feature. I’ve always found it useful while shopping for books myself. I hope it will assist potential customers to see what fun the book will be to read—and, of course, to serve as a teaser!
